Anniversaries/Annuals

The New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church at Cornerstone will observe its 63rd annual ushers’ day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Daryl Graydon, pastor of the First Missionary Baptist Church of Altheimer, will be the guest speaker.

Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, 900 Grant St., will hold appreciation day services to honor its pastor and wife, the Rev. Anthony L. Craig Sr. and Betty Craig. The celebration will begin on Friday at 7 p.m. with Rev. Patrick Lockett, pastor of New Community Baptist Church, as guest speaker. April 13 at 1 p.m. a first lady’s luncheon is scheduled with Yvette Graydon of First Baptist Church in Altheimer as the guest speaker. April 14 at 3 p.m., the anniversary program will feature the Rev. Fredrick Anthony, pastor of Old St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in West Memphis, as the guest speaker.

Canaan Baptist Church, 5510 W. Malcomb Ave., will hold its 50th church anniversary Sunday. At 11 a.m., the guest speaker will be the Rev. John Nelson, the missionary who first led the church and the first pastor of Canaan. Bobby Smith, the last pastor, will be the speaker at 1:30 p.m.

Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church in Dumas, will celebrate its 19th anniversary of its pastor and wife, Rev. J.L. and Iris Morton, Sunday. At 11 a.m. the guest speaker will be the Rev. L. James Jackson. At 3 p.m., the Rev. Isaac Barnes, pastor of Greater First Baptist Church in Gould, will be the guest speaker.

New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, 1026 Missouri St., will celebrate the 7th anniversary of its pastor and wife, the Rev. Donald L. and Ruthie Agee at 3 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Frank Harris, pastor of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, will be the guest speaker.

Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Rison will celebrate the 16th anniversary of its pastor and wife, Rev. Sammie Jr. and Elizabeth Smith, at 3 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. David Mark of Cherry Hill Baptist Church in Moscow will be the guest speaker.

Special Events

New Community Church, 321 N. Birch St., will hold its annual Raising the Standard conference at 7 nightly starting with intercessory prayer at 6 p.m. on the following nights with these guests — Tuesday and Wednesday, the speaker will be the Rev. Christopher Davis of St. Paul Baptist Church in Memphis; and Thursday, the speaker will be the bishop, Noel Jones of Noel Jones Ministries in Gardena, Cailf.

St. Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 4508 S. Main St., will hold a deacon ordination service at 3 p.m. Sunday. The deacons to be ordained are: Clayborn Cosen, Paul Johnson, Glenn Marks and Lee Mixon. The Rev. Robert Handley, pastor of the Mt. Harmony Baptist Church, will be the guest speaker. The charge will be given by the Rev. George Barnes, pastor of Galilee Baptist Church. Music will be by St. Bethel’s Voices of Inspiration and the Men in Black.

New Home Missionary Baptist Church, 2900 S. Catalpa St., will hold a special service to perform a “skit,” entitled “Preparing Dinner for Jesus,” at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest choirs will include the Family Choir and Traveler’s Rest of Stuttguart.

New Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Sherrill will hold a family and friends day celebration at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Artee Williams, pastor of the Olive Branch Second Baptist Church in Conway will be the guest speaker at 3 p.m.

First Trinity Church of God in Christ, 800 S. Catalpa St., will hold a missions service on Sunday at 7 p.m. The Rev. Willie Gordon, pastor of Greater First Baptist Church in Pickens, will be the guest speaker.

God’s Way Fellowship, 1601 Commerce Road, will hold a scholarship banquet at 7 p.m. Saturday. The costs are for children under 3 free, ages 3-12 $3, $10 for singles and $15 for couples.

Revivals

St. Andrew AME Church, 701 Franklin St., will hold a “Holy Ghost Power” spring revival Wednesday through Friday at 6:30 p.m. The Rev. Kent J. Broughton, Sr., pastor of St. James AME Church in Warren, will be the guest speaker.

Concerts/Musicals

New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Moscow will hold a building fund concert at 2:30 p.m Sunday. Music will be provided by New Community Baptist Church and Amos Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.

Meadowview Baptist Church, Highway 270 E in Sheridan, will hold a southern gospel concert Saturday at 6:30 p.m. The Voyagers Quartet will perform.

Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, 900 Grant St., will hold a “Future Generation” concert at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. The Future Generation choir is a choir of Pine Bluff communities and surrounding areas. The guests will include Steven Howard, Yard Voices of Praise, Reign and many more.

Grace Temple Missionary Baptist Church, 909 S. Wisconsin St., will hold its annual musical program at 3 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Melvin Harrison, pastor of St. Ollie Missionary Baptist Church in Star City, will be the guest speaker. The guest choir will be Old St. James.

Womens/Mens Day

Barnes Temple Church of God in Christ, 10301 Princeton Pike, will hold its annual women’s day program at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The speaker will be a missionary, E. Smith, of New Hope Church of God in Christ in Little Rock.

St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 1404 S. Georgia St., will hold its annual men’s day Sunday. The Rev. Steven King, pastor of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, will be the speaker at 10:15 a.m. The Rev. Jimmy Fisher, pastor of Greater Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, will be the speaker at 3 p.m.

Bethlehem Worship Center in Dumas, will hold its annual women’s conference. A prayer brunch will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday. The speakers include Marilyn Reed, a minister of First Baptist Church in Little Rock; Shirley Phillip, a missionary of New Beginning Church of God in Christ in Gould; Jennifer Glover, a missionary of Redeemed Temple Church of God in Christ in Grady; and Patricia Watkins, an evangelist of Faith Mission Church of God in Christ in Gould. Services will continue Sunday at 10:30 a.m., Linda Jones of Bethlehem Worship Center Church in Dumas, will be the featured speaker. Judy Lattimore of Tabernacle Baptist in Dermott, will be the speaker at 3 p.m.

Youth

True Vine “E” Missionary Baptist Church, 1001 W. Second Ave., will celebrate the seventh youth choir anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Richard P. Bifford Sr. of Mount Bayou Missionary Baptist Church in Altheimer will be the guest speaker.

Second Missionary Baptist Church in Wabbaseka will hold a youth day celebration at 3 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Lamar Dendy, associate minister of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Altheimer, will be the guest speaker.
