Anniversaries/Annuals

Auburn Missionary Baptist Church in Gould will hold the sixth anniversary celebration of the pastor and wife, Rev. Jimmy and Shirley Bynum at 3 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Aaron Barnes, pastor of New Home Missionary Baptist Church, will be the speaker.

New Morning Star Baptist Church at Cornerstone will hold a seventh appreciation service in honor of the pastor and wife, Rev. Willie Laws Sr. and Donna Laws, at 3 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Anthony L. Craig Sr., pastor of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, will be the speaker. The Rev. Melvin Ely, associate minister of Greater Mt. Calvary Church, will be the speaker at 11 a.m. Sunday.

True Worshippers Apostolic Church, 106 N. Bloom St., will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the pastor and wife, Rev. Larry C. Nance Sr. and Mary Nance, at 2 p.m. Sunday. The pastor of Full Gospel Apostolic Church of DeWitt, Delois Purley, will be the speaker.

New Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Sherrill will hold a 21st anniversary celebration in honor of the pastor, Rev. Robert L. Watson, at 3 p.m. Sunday. Cliffton Conley of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Little Rock will be the speaker.

Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church in Gould will hold an 11th anniversary celebration Sunday in honor of the pastor, Rev. John Spicer Sunday. The Rev. Julius McDade, associate minister of St. John Baptist Church in Lonoke, will be the guest speaker at 11:30 a.m. The Rev. Reginald Adams, associate Minister of New St. Hurricane Baptist Church, will be the guest speaker at 2:30 p.m.

Belmont Missionary Baptist Church in Moscow will hold a fifth anniversary celebration at 3 p.m. Sunday in honor of the pastor and wife, Rev. Curtis and Gloria Smith. Rev. Amos Hightower, pastor of New Beginning Praise & Worship in Vaiden, Miss., will be the guest speaker.

Hosanna Christian Church will celebrate the 10th annual appreciation program for pastor and co-pastor, Rev. Louis Ross and Jacqueline Ross, at 3 p.m. Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Greater Fellowship Ministries, 2401 S. Main St. A praise celebration will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday at the same location.

New St. James Missionary Baptist Church, 3301 S. Fir St., will celebrate its 122nd church anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Leroy Spears, pastor of Union Baptist Church, will be the speaker.

Special Events

Eternal Life Ministry, 503 Pryce St., will hold a family and friends day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Alvin Lowe of Prarie Lake Missionary Baptist Church will be the guest speaker.

Eighth Avenue Missionary Baptist Church, 1200 W. Eighth Ave., will host the Regular St. Marion District Annual Green Tea at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The speaker will be Lee Nora Savage.

Mt. Olive AME Church in Tarry will hold a Black History program at 3 p.m. Sunday. Tonya Boyce of Eternal Grace Ministries will be the speaker. Renewed Generation will be the guest choir.

First Trinity Church of God in Christ, 800 S. Catalpa St., will hold a missions service at 7 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Bailey Austin, associate minister of Harvest Time Church of God in Christ in Mitchellville, will be the guest speaker. His wife, Linda Austin, will be the guest soloist. First Trinity has been involved in missions in Haiti for over 45 years and does work in the Bahamas, Philippines and South Africa. Proceeds will go directly for foreign missions. The public is invited to become part of the mission program, a spokesman said.

Old Saint James Missionary Baptist Church, 1607 West 16th St., will hold its first Monday monthly fellowship at 6:30 p.m. Monday. Daneen Higgins of Old Staint James, will be the speaker.

Greater Fellowship Ministries, 2401 S. Main St., will host Men’s Summit 2013 at 7:30 p.m. on the following nights with these speakers:

• Thursday, the guest preacher will be Rev. Chris Davis of Memphis. The lecturer Thursday and Friday will be Rev. J. Barrington Minix Jr. of Gaines Street Baptist Church at Little Rock.

• Friday’s guest preacher and Saturday morning’s lecturer will be R.J. Burt, a bishop.

Concerts/Musicals

Meadowview Baptist Church, 9 miles east of Sheridan, will hold a southern gospel music concert at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. The concert is free and there will be refreshments and fellowship following the concert.

Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, 800 Grant St., will hold a musical at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. The event is sponsored by Pure Purpose. Groups to perform are Pure Purpose, The New Mighty Supremes, Spiritualettes, Witnezz, Men of Christ and many more.

The SE Arkansas Community Mass Choir will sponsor a musical benefit program for Otis Adway and Robert Jackson at 7 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Altheimer.

Revivals

Grace Temple Missionary Baptist Church, 909 S. Wisconsin St., will hold a revival Monday through Wednesday at 7 p.m. The Rev. Glenn Barnes, pastor of Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church, will be the guest speaker.

Women’s/Men’s Day

Greater Ward Chapel AME Church, 3700 W. Sixth Ave., will hold its annual women’s day breakfast at 9 a.m. March 9. The presenter will be Joyce “Cookie” Bracy Vaughan. Tickets are $10. Details: Contact Betty Wade, chair, at 870-692-7815.
