Anniversaries/Annuals

The Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Star City will hold an anniversary celebration at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in honor of the pastor and wife, Rev. Victor and Linda Dolls. Rev. William Neal of Bright Star Missionary Baptist Church in Tarry, will be the speaker.

St. Luke AME Church, 9908 Princeton Pike, will celebrate its 129th anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Norma Gillom, pastor of St. Paul AME Church, will be the speaker.

Special Events

Jerusalem # 2 Missionary Baptist Church will host a Tri-Church fellowship at 7 p.m. Wednesday along with St. John Missionary Baptist Church and Reynolds Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Sylvester Dunbar of St. John will be the speaker.

Kings Highway Missionary Baptist Church, 2312 Fluker Ave., will hold the Deacon Ordination at 11 a.m. Sunday with Rev. Walter C. May Sr., the pastor, conducting the ordination for Earl Nesby, Kevin Woods and Brandon Simmons. Kings Highway will also hold a Black History program at 3 p.m. Sunday.

Barnes Temple Church of God in Christ, 10301 Princeton Pike, will observe its first annual Black History program at noon Sunday. Elder Stacy Batson will be the speaker.

Mt. Sinai Church, 2221 S. Olive St., will hold a Black History program at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Ramon L. Hunter, pastor of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church in Sherrill, will the speaker.

First Baptist Church in Altheimer will hold its monthly service of the goodwill singing union at 7 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Derrick Beasley, associate minister of First Baptist Church in Ladd, will be the guest speaker. The guest group will be The Nu-Mighty-Supreme. The special guests will be Endure of Dumas.

First Baptist Church (Dew Drop), 1701 N. Bryant St., will hold a Black History program at 3 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Louis Thomas and church mother Cleo Edwards will bring the highlights of the program.

Eternal Life Ministry, 503 Pryce St., will hold a fellowship program at 3 p.m. Sunday. Rhonda Mitchell, an evangelist, will be the speaker.

The Barraque Street Missionary Baptist Church, 1800 W. Pullen St., will hold a Black History program at 3 p.m. Sunday. Jimmy Cunningham Jr. of Nashville, formerly of Pine Bluff, will be the guest speaker. He, along with his mother, Donna Cunningham, a retired Pine Bluff teacher, co-authored “Images of America: African Americans of Pine Bluff and Jefferson County.” The program will also include presentations from the drama and puppet ministries.

St. Andrew AME Church, 701 Franklin St., will celebrate its Founder’s Day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Bill A. Bowers, pastor of Lee Chapel AME Church in North Little Rock, will be the speaker. The Lee Chapel Choir will provide the music.

Mt. Pleasant AME Church, 1201 N. Magnolia St., will hold a Black History program at 4 p.m. Saturday. Juvenile Court Judge Earnest Brown will be the speaker. The program “Let’s Talk about It” will be presented by the Christian Education Department. The youth department of the church will hold a Black History program at 3 p.m. Sunday.

New Faith Missionary Baptist Church, 3800 S. Fir St., will hold a Black History program at 3 p.m. Sunday. A play will be presented entitled “From the Cotton Fields to the White House.”

Solomon Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 8011 S. Olive St., will hold a Black History service at 11 a.m. Sunday. The Rev. Sammie Crain, pastor of First Baptist Church in Kingsland, will be the speaker.

Greater Deliverance Global Ministry, held at the Ramada Plaza (Jefferson Room), 2 Convention Center Drive, will host a “Moment in Black History” program at 4 p.m. Sunday. Anthony Hobbs, an assistant professor of Spanish at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, will be the speaker. Hobbs is also founder and host of School Without Walls which airs on UAPB TV Channel 24. A skit by Ron Jefferson entitled “Run Away Slave” will also be presented.

Breath of Life Church, 1313 Pine St., will hold a Black History service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Thomas Franklin Vaughns, a member of Barraque Street Baptist Church, will be the speaker.

Union Missionary Baptist Church in Altheimer will hold its annual Black History program at 11 a.m. Sunday. The Rev. Willie Laws, pastor of New Morning Star Baptist Church in Cornerstone, will be the speaker.

New Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, 500 Bois D’Arc, will hold its Black History program at 3 p.m. Sunday. A play, “Free at Last, Thank God Almighty We are Free,” will be presented. Annabelle, a former slave, and others will be portrayed.

St. Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 4508 S. Main St., will hold its Black History program at 3 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Melvin Harrison, pastor of St. Ollie Missionary Baptist Church in Star City, will be the speaker. The guest soloist will be Duane Jackson.

Grace Evangelical Baptist Church, 4210 Ohio St., will hold its Black History program at 10 a.m. Sunday. The Rev. Floyd L. Donald, host of the gospel television program, “Get Your Praise On,” and a member of St. James Church, will be the guest speaker.

Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church, 3201 W. Second Ave., will honor Sgt. Major Ester L. Crockett of the Arkansas Army National Guard at 11 a.m. Sunday. Crockett is the first black female to be promoted to the rank of sergeant major in the history of Arkansas Army National Guard. She was promoted to her rank September 8, 2012.

Evangelistic Outreach Church, 620 N. L.A. “Prexy” Davis Drive, will hold a 70th birthday celebration for its pastor and apostle, Emma L. Luckett, at 4:26 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Jenise “Sandy” Blake, will be the speaker.

Amos Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 2401 Port Road, will hold its annual State Drive at 3 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. D. Graydon of First Missionary Baptist Church in Altheimer will be the speaker.

A called meeting of the Multi-District Congress of Christian Education Steering Committee will be held at 6 p.m. Monday at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, 4607 W. Sixth Ave.

New Faith Missionary Baptist Church, 3800 S. Fir St., will present a teaching series on stewardship to be held Monday through Wednesday from 6-7 p.m. Rev. Glenn Barnes, pastor of Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church, will be the teacher.

Concerts/Musicals

St. Peter’s Rock Missionary Baptist Church, 2912 S. Catalpa St., will host a program introducing the pastor, Darren Edgerson and FAVOR, at 6 p.m. Saturday. Guests include the Racy Brothers from Dumas, Tom Scott and Singing Revs, Sensational Hearts and Barnes Brothers.

Little Rock Metro Plex Event Center and Graceful Productions present Live in Concert: Lee Williams and the Spiritual Quet Cee’s, The Racy Brothers, Eternal Light Singers, Bishop Kenneth Robinson & Chosen, Tim Rogers & the Fellas and Others at 6 p.m. Sunday.

New Cheeks Chapel AME Church in Sherrill will hold the monthly worship services of the Pastoria Singing Union at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

Union Baptist Church, 609 E. 24th Ave., will host the ninth anniversary celebration for the Voices of Heaven at 6 p.m. Saturday. Guest include Alabama Gurlz, Gospel Sonz, Dedric Jones & Chosen Praise, Dee Dee Jones, Radical and The Sensational Hearts.

Unity Temple Church of God, 4401 W. Sixth Ave., will observe Black History at 6 p.m. Sunday with a Cantata, “The Lord Comforted His People and They Sang,” arranged by Betty L. Thomas Allen and directed by a missionary, Patricia York.

The Greater Battle Chapel Baptist Church in Altheimer will hold a Black History musical at 3 p.m. Sunday.

Womens/Mens Day

Cherry Street Memorial AME Zion Church, 808 Cherry St., will host a men’s day program at 3 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Eddie Harris of Great Ward Chapel AME Church, will be the speaker. Men in Black, will be the musical guests.

Youth

Full Faith Christian Center, 1320 E. 17th Ave., will hold youth day service from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Sunday. Sandra Gainer with Greater Deliverance Global Ministry will be the guest speaker.

Smith Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 3006 Kentucky St., will hold a Black History program presented by the youth at 11 a.m. Sunday.

New St. Hurricane Baptist Church, 3319 Ohio St., will hold youth day at 11 a.m. Sunday. The Rev. Joshua Pickett, will be the guest speaker.
