Woodlawn High School Spanish students recently placed first overall, earning the top score for the second year at the FLARES District V Foreign Language Festival XIV at the University of Arkansas at Monticello.
Seven Southeast Arkansas schools participated. Twenty Woodlawn High School Spanish students competed in categories from Spanish I poetry to Heritage Speaker. Other categories included Extemporaneous Reading, Speaking, Art, Vocabulary Bee, Drama, Cultural Trivia and Talent.
All 20 students qualified to compete in the AFLTA Foreign Language festival on May 4 at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville.
