Janette Wheat, an assistant professor at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, has been appointed as second vice chairwoman for the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences Higher Education Unit for 2013-2014.
Wheat, of the university’s Department of Human Sciences, was nominated by Carol Anderson, director of accreditation for AAFCS.
“This is a significant accomplishment for Dr. Wheat and for UAPB,” said Shandra Terrell Williams, UAPB Department of Human Sciences chairwoman. “Join with me in congratulating Dr. Wheat.”
AAFCS is a professional association of educators, administrators and managers, human service and business professionals, researchers, community volunteers and consultants. Members provide research-based knowledge about the topics of everyday life, including human development, personal and family finance, housing and interior design, food science, nutrition and wellness, textiles and apparel and consumer issues.
