Watson Chapel Junior High School students on visit to Little Rock Central High National Historical Site during a trip to explore the lives and experiences of the Little Rock Nine for Black History Month. (Special to The Commercial)

Students from Watson Chapel Jr. High School recently visited the Little Rock Central High National Historical Site to explore the lives and experiences of the Little Rock Nine. The students, members of Ms. Lillian Hemphill’s ninth-grade Civics classes, first reviewed Constitutional Amendments, Supreme Court cases, and historical documents to prepare for the trip; then competed with other schools to be selected to visit the site during Black History Month. Watson Chapel was the only junior high school selected.

The students also enjoyed a gourmet meal prepared by the staff at Forty Two, the restaurant inside the William Jefferson Clintion Presidential Center. The meal was highlighted by an exclusive visit and networking opportunity with the resturant’s excutive chef, sous chef, and pastry chef.
