UAPB to break ground for STEM Academy Friday

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff will sponsor a ground-breaking ceremony at 10 a.m. Friday for the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Academy. The event will be held next to the Baptist Collegiate Ministry Building on L.A. “Prexy” Davis Drive. The event is free and open to the public.

The ceremony will for the $6 million STEM Academy and Conference Center will also include a visit by Gov. Mike Beebe.

The new building is projected to be 29,000 square feet and infuses green concepts in its design and construction. Space will be provided for labs, class/seminar rooms, student resource center, conference rooms and an 8,000 square foot auditorium for large assemblies, a spokesman said.
