UAPB awards scholarship to local PBHS student

Pine Bluff High School student Rachel McAfee has been awarded a University Scholarship from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.

To be eligible for the scholarship, a student must have a minimum ACT score of 21 and a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher. The scholarship pays full tuition.

McAfee currently has a 3.5 GPA and ranks 11 in a class of 309.

McAfee is the daughter of Jesse and Deborah McAfee and will graduate in May from Pine Bluff High School. Her main activities include cheerleading, Art Club and Future Business Leaders of America.

While attending UAPB, McAfee plans to major in mathematics. After completing her bachelor’s degree at UAPB, McAfee plans to become a mathematician and become a professor at a Historically Black College and University.

“I selected to attend UAPB because it is an HBCU and it is the type of university I have aspired to attend,” McAfee said. “Generations of my family have graduated from UAPB and inspired me to follow in their footsteps.”
