UAPB assistant professor awarded grant to attend conference

Sederick C. Rice, assistant professor of biology at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, was selected as one of the recipients of this year’s American Association for Cancer Research Minority-Serving Institution Faculty Scholar in Cancer Research Awards.

This award will provide funds for Rice to attend the annual AACR meeting, April 6-10, 2013, in Washington D.C. This award is supported by a grant from the National Cancer Institute’s Center to Reduce Cancer Health Disparities, which provides funds for the participation of meritorious faculty of minority-serving institutions in AACR annual meetings and special conferences.

The AACR Award Selection Committee determined that Rice was eligible and deserving of this faculty scholar award, which will provide complimentary annual meeting registration and an award check of $1,800 to help defray costs of hotel accommodations, travel and meals.
