Tillar student receives OBU award

Leigh Ashley Gamble, 18, of Tillar, was recently selected to receive a Ouachita Collegiate Award from Ouachita Baptist University.

The honor awards students for accomplishments in their high school work and extracurricular activities.

Gamble graduated fifth in her class with honors from McGehee High School, where she was a member of the Art Club, East Lab and Future Teachers of America.

She was editor of the yearbook, secretary of the National Honor Society, reporter of MHS’s chapter of Beta Club and was involved in the Medical Application of Science for Health program. She also was a recipient of Terreze Harris Awards for mathematics.

Gamble is the daughter of Jerry and Pat Gamble of Tillar and is the granddaughter of 1957 Ouachita alumna Denalda Crowder of Pine Bluff.
