Robin R. Stepps, a teacher at Jack Robey Junior High School, was the keynote speaker during a Mother-Daughter Tea celebrating National Recovery Month at the Southeast Arkansas Department of Community Corrections Sept. 28.
More than 70 residents and their families were invited to the tea.
”The Tea helped the residents and guests realize that suffering doesn’t have to be a life sentence - recovery is possible and attainable,” a spokesman said in a news release.
Syrna Lee, treatment supervisor, sponsored the event.
National Recovery Month promotes the prevention, treatment and recovery for mental health and substance use disorders. It also celebrates recovering addicts and the contributions of their treatment providers, a spokesman said.
