Students participate in MASH camp at JRMC

Eighteen junior and senior high school students from Jefferson County are attending a Medical Applications of Science for Health camp June 3-14 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. The group includes (back row, left to right) Hannah Dixon, Darian Flint, Joshua Gossage, Candace Casey, Jacob Green, Juana Boone, Tyler Sidwell, Chelsea Osademe, Jasmine Bell, Sydney Gibson, Tyler Thomas, Shateria Lewis, Courtney Rogers and (front row, left to right) Timothy Lenox, Leonicia Hart, Myranda Randle, Alexis Ho and Lynde Moore. They are participating in a variety of medical-related activities, including observing surgery, dissecting animal organs, learning about reading x-rays, shadowing a doctor making rounds and watching an automobile crash simulation. The program is designed to encourage rural youth interested in medical fields to continue their education and then return to rural areas to work.
