Star City graduate earns UALR scholarship


Miles Pickens, a Star City High School graduate, has been awarded the Chancellor’s Academic Distinction Scholarship from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

The scholarship awards $40,000 for four years if renewal requirements are met. It is given to entering freshman who have earned a score of 30 or above on the ACT and at least a 3.0 cumulative high school grade point average.

Pickens is the son of Ralph and Cheryl Pickens of Star City; the grandson of Raymond and Liz Townley of Pine Bluff; and the late Frelen and Anna Pickens, formerly of Dumas.
