SEARK class collects toys, food

Nancy Ryburn’s Sociology class at Southeast Arkansas College recently collected toys and food for the Salvation Army’s Christmas distribution. The students decided to do this as a class project after they studied a unit on poverty. Participants included Daniel Newman, Melanie Harvey, Kerry Battle, LaToya Avery, Brittany Austin, Delitha Boston, Brandy Sloan and Roxanne Scott.

SEARK holds tree lighting ceremony

Southeast Arkansas College recently held its annual Tree Lighting Ceremony and Hot Chocolate with SEARK President Steve Hilterbran. College employees, students and their family members were in attendance. After singing holiday songs, Hilterbran, William Beshears, student senate representative, and Tikeecha Spikes, student ambassador president, flipped the switch for the ceremonial tree lighting.

Holiday closing announced

Southeast Arkansas College will be closed Thursday through Jan. 2 for the holidays. Campus will reopen Jan. 3 at 8 a.m.
