Rotary speaker to discuss highway tax

A state highway commissioner will speak at the West Pine Bluff Rotary Club meeting at noon Thursday about the proposed sales tax increase for highway projects on the Nov. 6 ballot.

Arkansas Highway Commissioner Tom Schueck will speak about Issue No. 1 the meeting, which will be held at the Pine Bluff Country Club.

The proposed temporary half-cent sales tax increase would be used to finance a $1.3 billion bond issue for four-lane highway construction and provide more than $700 million in additional city and county turnback revenue.
