Roadwork on I-530 to require lane shift

Improvements to Interstate 530 will require a traffic shift in southern Pulaski County, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department officials.

Crews will be constructing a new northbound bridge over Clear Creek. The work will require traffic to shift to one lane in each direction between Woodson Road and Hensley Road (mile marker 13). A concrete barrier wall will be installed to separate traffic on what’s normally the southbound side of the interstate.

The traffic shift will begin Thursday afternoon. Work on the bridge is expected to last four months.

The entire 7.4 mile resurfacing job southwest of Wrightsville is expected to be complete in summer 2014. Cranford Construction Company of North Little Rock was awarded the contract at $13,525,134.63.

Motorists should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones. Additional travel information can be found at ArkansasHighways.com. You can also follow us on Twitter @AHTD.
