The Arkansas State Highway Commission has approved a bid for improvements to roadways in Dallas and Cleveland counties, according to the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department.
The purpose of the project is to resurface/repair about 2.2 miles of three roadways in Fordyce and two roadways in Rison. The work will be performed on the following streets.
Fordyce — East First Street resurfacing between Moro Street. & Graham Street.
Fordyce — Graham Street resurfacing between East First Street and Highway 79 (East Fourth Street)
Fordyce — Moro Street resurfacing between Highway 79 (East Fourth St) & East First Street.
Rison — Mt. Elba Road resurfacing extends south of Highway 79
Rison — Niven Road resurfacing between Highway 79 and Main St.
Jet Asphalt & Rock Co., Inc. of El Dorado was awarded the contract at $329,414.39.
Construction is scheduled to begin in two to four weeks, weather permitting. The project should be complete by the end of this year.
This project is being funded through the State Aid City Streets Program approved by lawmakers in 2011 and voters in 2012. This program provides $20 million annually from the state motor fuels tax to assist cities with projects selected by a nine-member panel of Arkansas mayors.
