Removal of pedestrian bridge will require temporary closure of highway

Crews removing a pedestrian bridge in Pine Bluff will require the temporary closure of Highway 79B near the campus of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department officials.

The removal of the bridge will begin at 6 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, and will conclude by noon, weather permitting. Traffic will be detoured using Reeker Street, Spruce Street, and Oliver Road. Highway 79B will return to normal no later than noon. Churches in the area may want to inform their congregations and plan accordingly.

Motorists should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones.
