In honor of Veterans Day Sunday, Hearin-Connolly Unit #32 of the American Legion Auxiliary will sell poppies at Brookshire’s on 28th Avenue and Hazel Street from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
Proceeds from the sale of poppy flowers will be used to aid local veterans and their families as well those in veterans hospitals. The funds also help the auxiliary purchase gifts each Christmas for veterans in area nursing homes.
Mayor Carl A. Redus Jr. has proclaimed Saturday as Poppy Day in Pine Bluff.
“We ask that Pine Bluff citizens aid our veterans by obtaining poppies from our members. Veterans of all wars will appreciate their help,” Barbara Rhinehart, poppy chairman, said.
