Police fishing derby set Saturday


The Pine Bluff Police Department will sponsor its annual fishing derby from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24,*** at Martin Luther King Jr. park.

There will be fish, hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, games and bounce houses.

The great fish-off will be from 7-8 a.m. Participants will include elected city and county officials; judges; the chancellor of the University of Arkansas at Pine Buff; superintendents from the Dollarway, Pine Bluff and Watson Chapel school districts; and the police and fire chiefs.

Kids 15 and under and senior citizens are invited to bring their fishing equipment and let the officers of the Pine Bluff Police Department “show you a fishing good time.”

The fishing derby is sponsored by the Pine Bluff Police Department Public Relations Department, Interim Chief Jeff Hubanks and Mayor Debe Hollingsworth.
