PB teacher in running for state award

Judy Tucker, a first-grade teacher at 34th Avenue Elementary School in the Pine Bluff School District, has been named a regional finalist for the Arkansas Teacher of the Year award.

Tucker is one of 16 teachers from across the state recently recognized at the Arkansas State Capitol.

Tucker has been teaching for more than 30 years and has been employed in the PBSD since 2009.

The Arkansas Teacher of the Year competition is part of the National Teacher of the Year program, which began in 1952. Each year teachers are nominated and selected for the award based on their teaching skills and dedication to students, parents and colleagues.
