PB native named finalist for national small business honor


Phillip (Dwayne) Dye, a 1973 graduate of Dollarway High School and co-owner of Larsen Drye Associates Architects in Irving, Texas, has been named one of seven regional finalists for the 2013 Dream Big Small Business of the Year Award sponsored by Sam’s Club.

The finalists will be honored during America’s Small Business Summit in April in Washington, D.C., where a national winner will be announced and receive a $10,000 cash prize, courtesy of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Dye grew up in Pine Bluff and received a college scholarship from the Pine Bluff Home Builders Association to attend the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. Dye was an intern at A.W. Nelson Architect, the Pine Bluff Water Department, the Southeast Arkansas Regional Planning Commission, and Brown and Root Construction. As the Southwest and South Central regional winner he will be representing Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas.
