Parents as Teachers to meet at Nature Center

The Arkansas River Education Service Co-Op/Parents as Teachers monthly group meeting will 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Delta Nature Center in Regional Park.

The topic will be “A Trip to the Delta Nature Center.”

The PAT Program is a national as well as international early childhood parenting education and family support program, which provides parents with children — prenatal to 3 years of age — age-appropriate child development information and parent-child activities that encourage language, intellectual, motor and social-emotional growth. The PAT “Born to Learn” Curriculum is based on the premise that parents are the child’s first and most influential teacher, which takes place at a time when the brain develops the most.

Certified parent educators are trained to provide such services as: personal visits, group meetings and developmental screenings and community resource network. They are trained to work within the value system of the family and encourage parents to build on the family’s strengths.

PAT gladly accepts and appreciates volunteers and donations of diapers/pull-ups, formula, infant and toddler car seats, etc., which are needed to assist our program and families. Details: 534-7957.
