Jason Phillips, a new wildlife officer with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, has been assigned to work in Jefferson County.
Phillips is one of 17 new wildlife officers who graduated from the H.C. “Red” Morris Training Center east of Mayflower on Lake Conway.
Phillips was born in Gravette, graduated from Bentonville High School and later graduated from the Northwest Arkansas Police Academy.
He was a deputy with the Madison County Sheriff’s Department for eight years.
“My grandfather was a well-respected wildlife officer with the Game and Fish Commission,” Phillips said. “I knew at an early age I wanted to follow his footsteps.”
