Mobile veteran help center visits Pine Bluff

MVC Readjustment Counseling Technician “Birch” Farley (left) and VIP for Vets CAB President the Rev. Alfred Carroll chat with Vietnam Veteran Ray Green and his wife outside the VA’s Mobile Vet Center parked at the Pine Bluff Walmart. The Mobil Vet Center was in Pine Bluff two days this week meeting with local veterans and providing information and encouragement. The mobile unit is housed in Fayetteville and travels throughout Arkansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and parts of Texas. “Often times Vets are seeking help with filing paperwork, getting counseling, medical cards and a listening ear,” Carroll said. “Our role as a Community Advisory Board is to help facilitate that process as best we can by working with local clergy, mental health providers, business partners, local governments and other veteran groups.” Services are also provided to members of the National Guard and their families. Veterans needing assistance may contact Staff Sgt. the Rev. Travis Harden, mental health navigator, at (870) 717-7908. (Special to The Commercial)
