Kenneth Starnes, owner and chief executive officer, of Emergency Ambulance Service Inc., was recently named a 2013 Arkansas “Star of Life” for his extraordinary contributions to Arkansas EMS.
The “Stars of Life” program is a special event conducted by the Arkansas Ambulance Association in cooperation with the American Ambulance Association.
Each “Star” was recognized in a ceremony held at the State Capitol in March 5.
Starnes began his EMS career in 1979. He attended the first paramedic program in Pine Bluff in 1989. In addition to serving as a paramedic, Starnes has taught both EMT and Paramedic programs at SEARK. Additionally, Starnes was appointed by Gov. Mike Huckabee, and later reappointed by Gov. Mike Beebe, to the Governor’s Advisory Council on EMS. Starnes also served several years on the board of directors of the Arkansas Ambulance Association.
