King Team sets community forum Saturday

Young people in Pine Bluff are asked to discuss gun violence at the Interested Citizens for Voter Registration Inc. (ICVR) King Team Pen or Pencil’s community forum. The meeting will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in the ICVR office, 2315 S. Olive St.

Pine Bluff Interim Police Chief Jeff Hubanks and other law enforcement officials will also be asked to participate.

“ICVR believes youth and young adults involvement are critical in developing strategies that are needed to prevent and reduce gun violence,” Derrick L. Newby, president ICVR, said in a news release. “Giving youth a place at the table to plan a more effective approach to deal with gun violence is a goal of ICVR’s Respect for Life Campaign.”

The forum will offer an opportunity for residents to discuss violence prevention, peer pressure, and bullying with young people. The event is open to everyone but is specifically being organized for youth and young adults. Details: Call 536-7274.
