ICVR offers free trip to Little Rock youth summit


Students in grades six through 12 are invited to attend the PEN OR PENCIL Regional Youth Summit from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, July 22, at the Little Rock Marriott Hotel.

The Interested Citizens for Voter Registration Inc. has available 350 slots for youths in the Pine Bluff area to travel to Little Rock. All activities, meals and transportation are free of charge.

The keynote speaker for the youth summit is Bernice A. King, youngest daughter of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King. Pine Bluff participants are Superintendent Linda Watson, Pine Bluff Schools, Interim Pine Bluff Police Chief Jeff Hubanks, Justin (Pharez) Smith and the Rev. Jesse C. Turner.

The two-day “Take A Stand To Keep A Seat Regional Youth Mentoring Summit” is sponsored by the National Alliance of Faith and Justice in Washington, D.C., in conjunction with the National Association of Blacks in Criminal Justice of North Carolina.
