The Interested Citizens for Voter Registration Inc. of Pine Bluff will hold two events Sunday, Jan. 20, in conjunction with other “Justice Sunday” events nationwide.
There will be a breakfast at 7 a.m. and Justice Sunday Commemorative Program followed by mentor recruitment at 7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 200 W. 6th Ave.
“On Justice Sunday we call upon churches to provide at least two volunteers who will commit one hour per week or four hours per month each in service as a mentor,” said the Rev. Jesse C. Turner, ICVR executive director. “The Pine Bluff CARES affiliate is uniquely positioned to provide the necessary training volunteers will need to become mentors. Pine Bluff CARES will also deploy volunteers to organizations, i.e., Pen or Pencil: Writing a New History, Boys and Girls Club, etc. as needed.”
Justice Sunday weekend, Jan. 19-20, is organized by the National Alliance of Faith and Justice.
