The Pine Bluff Fire & Emergency Services Department will conduct an open competitive examination for the position of firefighter at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, at the Pine Bluff Convention Center.
The starting salary is $29,183 for a probationary firefighter, and after one year of service the salary increases to $31,306.
Persons interested in these positions must meet the minimum qualifications to be eligible for hire. All candidates must participate in department testing procedures which include: a written test, physical agility test, oral interview and a comprehensive criminal background check. All candidates must be at least 21 years of age, but no older than 34 years of age. A minimum score of at least 70 percent is required on the written exam to be considered for hire.
If hired, all candidates will be required to obtain Firefighter I and Firefighter II certificates as prescribed by the Arkansas Fire Training Academy, as well as obtain their National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT)-Basic License, recognized by the Arkansas Department of Health within the one year probationary period. Prior certification is desired, but not required.
All candidates are required to successfully pass a medical examination before initial employment.
