Family honors resident with donation to UAPB

The family of Lee “Cop” Collins presented a $1,000 donation to the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff in Collins’ memory during the 2012 homecoming celebration, spokesman Lee Collins said.

The donation was made possible from proceeds of tickets sold for a chance to win gas cards.

Winners of the “Cop Collins” Scholarship Fund gas card giveaway were:

• George Couch of Jacksonville, who won a $100 gas card

• Annette Hachett of Pine Bluff, who won a $50 gas card.

• Kim Udell of Conway, who won a $25 gas card.

Cop Collins provided security for AM&N College, now UAPB, during the 1960s and early 1970s, and was known for charging students 50 cents for walking on the grass, Collins said.

“Thank you to all those who supported this donation by buying tickets for the gas card giveaway,” Collins said.
