In recognition of Earth Day this year, employees from Calpine Corp.’s Pine Bluff Energy Center planted 20 loropetalun shrubs at the Civil War Memorial Park downtown.
This has been a continuing project for the employees of Calpine, who planted four red maples last year and two red maples the previous year.
This year’s project was assisted by Pine Bluff/Jefferson County Clean and Beautiful Commission Director Kelli Kennedy. She and members of the Jefferson County Recycling Center staff helped prepare the site for planting.
Calpine employees participating this year were: operations and maintenance manager Richard Gilingham; business manager Monica Hastings; operations technician Jason Dobbins; maintenance technician Joe Heiser; operations technician Jonathan Evans; and plant manager Dennis Coates.
