The Backwoods Benefit Poultry Show will be Saturday, March 2, at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds in Rison.
Doors will open at 9 a.m. for the public to view the poultry and for judging. The concession stand will be open for breakfast and lunch. A “for sale” floor will also be open.
The net proceeds will go to educational scholarships given by the Fair Association. There are open show awards and junior show awards. Prize money will be given.
Anyone who raises and shows chickens, waterfowl, turkeys, guineas, etc., may enter. The postmarked entry deadline is Friday, Feb. 22.
The event is free and open to the public for viewing the poultry.
At the 2012 show there were 485 entries from a three-state area, with poultry ranging from the exotic to the ordinary.
The event is the Arkansas State Meet location and is sanctioned by the American Poultry and the American Bantam associations.
