Chicot County Road improvements announced

LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas State Highway Commission approved a bid for improvements to roadways in Chicot County, according to the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department officials.

The purpose is to resurface 1 mile on these streets in Eudora:

• Peebles Street - Between railroad tracks and Highway 65

• Knight Street - Between South Grant St. and South Harlem St.

• Park Place - Just east of Highway 65

APAC-Mississippi Inc. of Jackson, Miss., was awarded the contract at $196,507.53.

Construction is scheduled to begin in two to four weeks, weather permitting. The project should be complete by the end of this year.

This project is being funded through the State Aid City Streets Program approved by lawmakers in 2011 and voters in 2012. This program provides $20 million annually from the state motor fuels tax to assist cities with projects selected by a nine-member panel of Arkansas mayors.
