The Board of Corrections will have a conference call at 3 p.m. Wednesday to vote on a new 90-day EPA.
The Emergency Powers Act gives the Board of Corrections the authority to declare a prison overcrowding emergency and to move parole/transfer eligibility dates forward by up to 90 days for eligible inmates. Even if the EPA is in effect, the inmates still must be granted parole by the Board of Parole. The board has invoked the EPA on a routine basis for a number of years.
Anyone interested in listening to the call may do so at ADC’s Central Office, 6814 Princeton Pike, Pine Bluff; or at DCC’s Central Office, Atkins Building, Second Floor, 105 W. Capitol, Little Rock.
