Belair students enter ‘Stamp Out Smoking’ essay contest

Three 6th grade students from Belair Middle School have submitted written essays to enter the “Stamp Out Smoking” Essay Contest for Arkansas students.

The contestants are Mia Hobbs, Alex Mayer, and Daniel Collins and the winners will be announced Nov. 23.

“These students have put tons of effort into their writings and are very much in the running for a top place

finish in this contest,” a spokesman said. “Regardless of that outcome, Mia, Alex and Daniel deserve a huge pat on their back for their tireless efforts on this great way to promote student achievement.”

Essays could be written to support someone who is currently living a smoke-free life or to help encourage someone to stop smoking and choose a smoke-free life.

Prizes for the winners include iPad2, iPod Nano, iPod Touch, and $300 for classroom supplies.
