Belair Middle School in the Pine Bluff School District recently announced the October students of the month in the Accelerated Readers program for the 6th grade.
The honorees are Nigeria Cole and Kerell Wright.
AR is an academic enriched reading program which enhances student achievement through comprehension, fluency, and other learning strategies centered around fiction and nonfiction literary texts, a spokesman said.
Nigeria is the representative for the 6th grade girls at Belair. Nigeria has completed six literary texts with a percent-correct goal average of 97 percent. Her earned text points score is 18.3, and her average book level is 4.3.
“Nigeria also possesses an excellent learning attitude and is determined to make herself not only a better student within the scholastic area but also a better equipped person in today’s society. All the teachers and administration are very proud of her great efforts and hope to help continue her good strides for success,” a spokesman said.
Kerell is the representative for the 6th grade boys at Belair. Kerell has completed five literary texts with a percent-correct goal average of 100 percent. His earned text points score is 2.5, and his average book level is 6.6.
“Kerell is a pleasure to work with in the classroom and is always willing to push himself to the limits in order to be a brighter student. All the teachers and administration will continue helping to ensure that Kerell can meet high expectations so that he may be an excellent contributor to society,” a spokesman said.
