29th Annual KingFest schedule announced

The Interested Citizens for Voter Registration Inc. KingFest executive committee has announced the schedule for the 29th annual week-long KingFest Celebration in honor of slain civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.

“This month Pine Bluff has the unique opportunity to lead this state in race relations and community service,” said Rev. Jesse Turner, executive director of ICVR. “There could not be a better venue at this time in the city’s history than the Martin Luther King Jr. Church Commemorative Program where Mayor Debe Hollingsworth will be the speaker.”

The week of activities are designed to promote interracial cooperation and community service leading up to the Martin Luther King Jr. Federal Holiday. The 2013 KingFest activities include:
