This is a listing of activities of interest to residents of Southeast Arkansas. Anyone who would like to submit entries for consideration may do so in writing to the Entertainment Calendar, P.O. Box 6469, Pine Bluff, Ark., 71611. Since all activities are subject to change, it would be wise to confirm the activity with the sponsoring organization.

November

30 — Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas, 701 Main St., will host Potpourri, its bi-annual fundraiser, on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1. The event on Nov. 30 will be held from 7-10 p.m., and will feature the band, Big Phil and Chill, heavy hors d’oeuvres, margaritas, a wine and beer pull and a preview of the artwork, parties, jewelry and other items that will be available at the silent and live auctions on Dec. 1. The black-tie optional event on Dec. 1 will be held from 6-10 p.m., and will open with a cocktail hour and silent auction, followed by dinner and the live auction. Tickets are $60 per person for Nov. 30 and $100 per person for Dec. 1. Tickets for both nights can be purchased at $150 per person. Seating is limited. 30 — The American Red Cross Southeast Arkansas Chapter will host its annual chili meal fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Services Building, 211 W. Third Ave. The cost of the meal is $7 per ticket. Dine in or take-out will be available. Delivery is also available for orders of 10 or more with one-hour notice. To order call, 870-534-7312.

30 — This year’s “Enchanted Land of Lights & Legends” is open and will remain open until New Year’s Eve. The drive-through holiday light display will be open from 6-9 p.m. each day in the Pine Bluff/Jefferson County Regional Park. December

1 — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Reserve Unit, Voices for Children, The CALL and the Department of Human Services will host the second annual toy drive on the Walmart parking lot. The mobile command center will be set up between the entrances to accept new toys and cash donations. All toys and money collected will be used to provide Christmas to the more than 200 children in foster care in Jefferson and Lincoln counties. 1 — The Gov. Mike Huckabee Delta Rives Nature Center in Pine Bluff/Jefferson County Regional Park will host a Beginning Archery workshop from 10 a.m. to noon. The workshop is for anyone new to archery. Participants will learn how to shoot a bow and will have the opportunity to shoot during the workshop.

2 — University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Vesper Choir will also present the 59th annual performance of Handel’s “Messiah” at 3 p.m. in the John M. Ross Theatre at the Hathaway-Howard Fine Arts Building on UAPB’s campus. For more information, call 870-575-7001.

4 — The Delta Sigma Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity will celebrate the 106th Founders Day of its fraternity at 6:30 p.m. at St. James United Methodist Church, 900 University Drive.

5 — Children’s Theatre on Tour, a touring company of the Arkansas Arts Center’s Children’s Theatre in Little Rock, will perform “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas” at 10 a.m. at the Pine Bluff Convention Center Auditorium. Local sponsors of the play are ARESC-HIPPY, ARESC-PAT, JCCSI Childcare Links/PAT, and DECC.

5 — The University of Arkansas, Division of Agriculture, Jefferson County Extension Homemakers will sponsor a Holiday Wreath Workshop from 9 a.m. to noon in the conference room of the Jefferson County Extension Office, 500 Idaho St. Supplies needed include a wire wreath frame or garland frame, one roll of mesh (or two if you want to mix colors), scissors, and any trim for decorations (rope, narrow mesh, ornaments, etc.). Wire and wire cutters are needed if wreath frame does not include built-in wire holders. The workshop is open to the public.

6-8 — The third annual Créche Festival, sponsored by the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 2501 Ridgway Road, will be held. Dates and times are: Dec. 6 — 6 to 9 p.m.; Dec. 7 — 6-9 p.m.; a short Christmas program will be presented at 7 p.m.; Dec. 8 — 1 to 4 p.m. Family, friends and neighbors are invited to stroll through displays of Nativity sets and scenes from around the world. Beautiful artwork and Christmas music will enhance the experience. Light refreshments will be served. Admission is free. For more information, contact Amanda Reynolds at 870-489-5463.

7 — Tickets for the annual Christmas Luncheon and Festival of Tables, sponsored by the Pine Bluff Salvation Army Auxiliary, are on sale. The event is scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Great Hall of First United Methodist Church, 200 W. Sixth Ave. All tickets are $15 each, with carry-outs available. 8 — The Jefferson County Civitan Club will sponsor the 65th annual Pine Bluff Christmas Parade at 2 p.m. in downtown Pine Bluff. This year’s theme will be “The True Meaning of Christmas”.
