This is a listing of activities of interest to residents of Southeast Arkansas. Anyone who would like to submit entries for consideration may do so in writing to the Entertainment Calendar, P.O. Box 6469, Pine Bluff, Ark., 71611. Since all activities are subject to change, it would be wise to confirm the activity with the sponsoring organization.
6 — The New Edinburg All-School Reunion will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the school cafeteria. A potluck lunch has been planned and participants are asked to bring their favorite dish. Door prizes will be awarded. Those who won door prizes last year, are asked to bring a door prize to be given away.
13 — Jim Curry has created the ultimate tribute to John Denver and has emerged as the top performer of his music. Combining dramatic images of nature, Curry presents an unforgettable show. He will appear at the Pine Bluff Country Club, 1100 Country Club Lane, as part of the Old Town Dinner Theatre shows. Dinner starts at 6 p.m., and the show at 7:30. 13 — Sparkle Baby Pageant Productions will host a benefit pageant for the Children’s Advocacy Center at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Services Building, 211 W. Third Ave. Registration will begin at 1 p.m., and the pageant is set to start at 3 p.m. The price for entry is $75. The pageant is open to girls and boys of all ages. This is a natural pageant with a patriotic theme, so contestants are asked to wear minimal makeup, age-appropriate dress and no swim wear. The contestant can wear Sunday best or pageant dress. 18 — The Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas, 701 Main St., will host an opening reception for “Celebratory Scenes: Watercolors of Kit McDonald” from 5-7 p.m. The reception, sponsored by Talbot Capital Management, will include drinks, hors d’oeuvres and a gallery talk by Kit McDonald. The center is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 1-4 p.m. Saturday, and is closed on Sunday. 20-21 — Shooters from the region will meet at the archery range of Pine Bluff Bowhunters Inc., to compete in the Ben Pearson Memorial 3-D Tournament. Entry fees are Pro Division, $40; Adult, $20; Youth, $10. Excluding Pro competitors, there is an immediate family maximum of $50. Cub and pee-wee shoot for free. 24-28 — The Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas, 701 Main St., will present its summer musical, “Oliver!” Show times are July 24-27 at 7:30 p.m., and July 28 at 2 p.m. Opening night ticket prices are $22 for members and $24 for non-members. 3 — Southeast High School Class of 1966 is hosting a Dinner and Dance Gala, in honor of those who are age 60 years and older, beginning at 6 p.m. at PJ’s Event Center, 2411 N. University Drive. All mature adults are welcome to join in the celebration. Tickets for this event are $35 for singles and $65 for couples. The deadline for advance ticket purchase is July 1. 9-10 — Dollarway High School Class of 1988 will celebrate its 25th reunion on Aug. 9-10. The registration deadline is July 22. The cost is $75 for singles and $100 for a family.
