This is a listing of activities of interest to residents of Southeast Arkansas. Anyone who would like to submit entries for consideration may do so in writing to the Entertainment Calendar, P.O. Box 6469, Pine Bluff, Ark., 71611. Since all activities are subject to change, it would be wise to confirm the activity with the sponsoring organization.


31 — Area Agency on Aging of Southeast Arkansas, 709 E. Eighth Ave., will hold a training workshop for its Ombudsman Program from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Those interested in attending should contact Brenda Brown, regional ombudsman, or Rose Garland, volunteer ombudsman coordinator, at 870-543-6311, 870-543-6327 or 800-264-3260.


1 — The Wabbaseka Scattterfest will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Wabbaseka City Park. Guests will include Anthony Jackson, Heavenly Hearts, Johnson Family, Angels of Christ, Virtuous, Gwen & Nu-Vision, Melvin Crockett, Revelation, Tina Crawford, Tanya Brooks, Southeast Arkansas Mass Choir, Witnezz and others.

2 — Pop’s Barbershop will present Pop’s 14th annual Community Festival at the Altheimer Community Complex at Altheimer beginning at 3 p.m. The event will include free food, prizes and gospel entertainment. 4 — The Crime Advisory Commission will meet with the Central Park/West Central Neighborhood Watch groups at 6 p.m. at Immanuel Baptist Church, 16th Avenue and Hickory Street. All area residents are asked to attend and inform the commission of crime-related concerns in your area.

7 — The Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas, 701 Main St., will host its monthly music series, Live@5, from 5-7 p.m. Charlotte Taylor & Gypsy Rain will perform. Cost of the evening is $5 for members and $10 for non-members.

8 — Old Town Theatres Centre will present “An Evening of Dining — Broadway, Jazz and Patsy Cline,” featuring Kayce Glasse, at the Pine Bluff Country Club, 1100 Country Club Lane. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. and the show will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $45 per person and must be purchased in advance. The deadline to purchase tickets is Sept. 4.
