Calendar of Events


This is a listing of activities of interest to residents of Southeast Arkansas. Anyone who would like to submit entries for consideration may do so in writing to the Entertainment Calendar, P.O. Box 6469, Pine Bluff, Ark., 71611. Since all activities are subject to change, it would be wise to confirm the activity with the sponsoring organization.

August

17 — The Cadillac Riders and Queens will host its back-to-school bash from 10 a.m. to noon at Bryant Street Park, 1818 Bryant St. Free school supplies will be given away, however, the child must be present. The event will also include free refreshments, free prizes, cart rides and a basketball tournament for ages 7-12.

There will also be a drawing for free backpacks. The event will also include a basketball tournament for ages 7-12, go-cart rides, free prizes and refreshments.

17 — Newbirth Baptist Church, 401 E. Fifth Ave., will hold its annual Youth Fun Day from noon to 4 p.m. There will be games and free food. The public is invited to attend.

18 — The Pine Bluff Chapter of The Links Inc., will host a book review/signing with Michael McCray, author of “Memoires of an ACORN Whistleblower”, at 4 p.m. in the Leedell Morehead-Graham Fine Arts Gallery in the Hathaway/Howard Fine Arts Center on the campus of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.

22, 24 — The Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas, 701 Main St., will hold auditions for “Razzle Dazzle” on Aug. 22 from 5:30-7:30 p.m., and Aug. 24 from 1-3 p.m. Participants must be at least 18 years of age or older, should come prepared to sing a song and must bring a CD track. Show dates for “Razzle Dazzle”, directed by Matt Soto, are Nov. 7-9 at 7:30 p.m. The show is sponsored by Smart Motors.
