14 — The University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service, in partnership with the Division of Child Care and Early Childhood Association, will offer free Best Care classes from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Gallagher Hall of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Sixth Avenue and Laurel Street. The class will also be offered on Jan. 28. The classes are for early childhood educators and others interested in learning more about young children. 16 — McGruff the Crime Down will lead the first community wide march against crime and violence during the 28th annual Kingfest Martin Luther King Jr. Marade scheduled for 11 a.m. Participants are asked to develop and display nonviolence messages on floats, cars, banners and signs. Churches, social and civic organizations, schools, businesses, elected officials, and candidates seeking public office are invited to join the march against crime and violence on the King Holiday.
