Box 6469, Pine Bluff, Ark., 71611. Since all activities are subject to change, it would be wise to confirm the activity with the sponsoring organization.
3 — Legoria Payton & Friends will light up the stage during the monthly Live@5 music series from 5-7 p.m. at the Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas, 701 Main St. Cost of the evening is $5 for members and $10 for non-members. 3 — The Drew County Historical Society will host a special benefit at the Monticello Country Club. Jack Lassiter, chancellor of the University of Arkansas at Monticello, will be the guest of honor. The society will also hold a silent auction and a live auction with Judge McElroy of Desha County as master of ceremonies. Viewing of items for the auction will begin at 6:30 p.m. and dinner will be at 7 p.m. The cost of tickets is $40 per person and $75 per couple. Checks should be made payable to the Drew County Historical Society. Society board members are also selling tickets. Seating is limited.
3 — Gov. Mike Beebe will deliver a keynote titled, “What’s right with Arkansas,” at the outside-in 2012 Arkansas Rice Expo, which will open at 8 a.m. at the Grand Prairie Center at Stuttgart. 7 — The Pine Bluff Police Department is sponsoring its National Night Out at the Pine Bluff Convention Center from 6-9 p.m. The event will include free food, drinks, games, prizes for kids, informational displays and live entertainment. Admission is free. For more information, call 870-730-2000.
25-26 — The Governor Mike Huckabee Delta Rivers Nature Center will hold its Arkansas Hunter Education Course. Participants must attend both days in order to take the final exam. The class is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Aug. 25 and from 1 to 5 p.m. Aug. 26. There is no fee for the program, however, participants must pre-register.
