Calendar of Events

This is a listing of activities of interest to residents of Southeast Arkansas. Anyone who would like to submit entries for consideration may do so in writing to the Entertainment Calendar, P.O. Box 6469, Pine Bluff, Ark., 71611. Since all activities are subject to change, it would be wise to confirm the activity with the sponsoring organization.


9 — Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas, 701 Main St., will host “Cocktails: History, Hollywood and Hair of the Dog”, from 6-7:30 p.m. The cost of the evening is $35 for members and $45 for non-members. For more information, call the center at 870-536-3375; e-mail; or visit the website at

9 — ACCESS Inc., 200 W. 13th Ave., will hold a giveaway for pregnant and parenting teen mothers from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The giveaway will include formula — (Similac) and some Enfamil products — baby food, and infant and toddler clothes. 10 — The Pine Bluff Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., will host a “Violence Against Women” physical fitness 2K walk/run at 8 a.m. in Regional Park at the Delta Rivers Nature Center. Each participant is asked to give a $5 donation. Proceeds from the event will benefit the CASA Women’s Shelter.

10 — Legendary country music artist Earl Thomas Conley will perform at the Grand Prairie Center at Stuttgart. Tickets range from $15 to $39. For more information, visit or call 870-673-4201.

11 — The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Vesper Choir, faculty and student vocal soloists, and members of the Arkansas Festival Ballet will join the Pine Bluff Symphony Orchestra for “An Afternoon at the Opera” at 4 p.m. in the Hathaway-Howard Fine Arts auditorium. All tickets will be open seating on a first-come, first-serve basis. Tickets are $30 for adults and $12 for students and will be available at the door. 24 — Cane Creek State Park at Star City will hold its Junior Fishing Derby. Children ages 15 and under will compete for small prizes. The derby starts at 8 a.m. and participants will meet at the park’s visitor’s center. For more information, visit or call 870-628-4714.
