First United Methodist Church was the setting at 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec 17th, for the marriage of Stephanie Lee Shepherd and Joseph Sam Poverelli. The Rev. David M. Flemming officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. William T. Shepherd Jr. Her maternal grandparents are Mrs. John Dane Jr. and the late Mr. John Dane Jr. of New Orleans. Her paternal grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. William T. Shepherd Sr. of Pine Bluff.
Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Perry Sam Poverelli of Chino, Calif. His maternal grandparents are Mary E. Webb and the late Mr. Donald E. Webb of Spencerport, N.Y. His paternal grandfather is the late Mr. Antonio J. Poverelli of West Covina, Calif. His paternal grandmother is Mrs. Donald G. Day of North Richmond Hills, Texas.
The bride, escorted by her father, wore a sweetheart, “Baby Doll” silhouette with beadwork, rhinestone flowers, and embroidery sewn onto the netting with a Duchess Silk pleated sash. A cathedral length train and a chapel length veil followed the bride as she walked.
The bride carried a hand-tied all white bouquet with roses, garden roses, peonies, sweetheart roses, ranunculus, and white astilbe. White feathers were interspersed in the blooms and tied with a white satin ribbon and pearls. Her grandmother’s heirloom handkerchief was tied loosely to the bouquet.
Dorothy Roy Shepherd of Pine Bluff, the bride’s sister, served as the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Jennifer Ann Hailey of Houston, Texas, Katie Keck Wilson of Conway, Ark., the groom’s sister, Marie Poverelli Decker, resides in Menifee, Calif., Darby Lea Wall of White Hall, and first cousins of the bride, Suzanne Spain Ward of Ashdown, and Regan Marie Norton of New Orleans, La. Emery Regan DeSonier and Ainsley Dane DeSonier, both of Lake Charles, La., served as honor attendants.
Attending the groom as best man was Kyle Michael Eropkin of Chino, Calif.. Groomsmen included brother of the groom, Jonathan Andrew Poverelli, Wade Eugine Munson of San Clemente, Calif., Jonathan Flores of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., brother-in-law of the groom, Burt Scott Decker of Menifee, Calif., first cousin of the bride, Timothy Henry Norton Jr. of New Orleans, La., and brother of the bride, William Toler Shepherd III of Pine Bluff.
The vocalists were Darby Lea Wall and Christian Feazell. Faron Jay Wilson served as the organist, Dr. Richard Bailey played the trumpet, and Alex Small played the violin.
A reception was held immediately following the ceremony at the Arts and Science Center for Southeast Arkansas.
After a wedding trip to Hot Springs, Mr. and Mrs. Poverelli will make their home in Santa Barbara, Calif., where he is a control system engineer working at Wyatt Technology Corp., and pursuing his PhD at University of California Santa Barbara in electrical and computer engineering.
