Samantha Leigh Van Veckhoven and Joshua Mark Merritt were united in Christian marriage on Saturday, July 14, 2012. First Baptist Church White Hall was the setting for the 2 o’clock wedding and Brother Paul Williams officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. Cecil Van Veckhoven, Jr. of Pine Bluff and Mrs. Beverley Beaver of Little Rock. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Merritt of White Hall.
The bride’s maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cullins of Rison. Her paternal grandparents are Mrs. Rose Van Veckhoven of Pine Bluff and the late Cecil Van Veckhoven, Sr.
The groom’s maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Joe Wood of Pine Bluff. His paternal grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. James Merritt of White Hall.
The bride was escorted by her father. She wore a strapless Alfred Angelo gown with a sweetheart neckline. The dress was made of organza with re-embroidered lace that featured crystal beading and sequins with a chapel length train. She wore a mid-length veil lined with pearls and sequins. The bride carried a bouquet of light and dark pink gerbera daisies, white carnations, light pink roses, and hypericum berries.
Cassidy Davis of Pine Bluff, sister of the bride, and Ashleigh Pierce of White Hall, friend of the bride, served as her matrons of honor. The bridesmaids were Felicia Van Veckhoven, Caitlyn Wamble, and Taylor Allen, all of Pine Bluff, and Jamie Blevins and Kerri Reed of White Hall. The bridesmaids wore soft green satin Alfred Angelo floor length strapless dresses with a sweetheart neckline. They carried a bouquet of dark pink gerbera daisies and hypericum berries.
Attending the groom as his best man was his brother, David Merritt, of White Hall. The groomsmen were Nathan Merritt, Daniel Merritt, Cory Pierce, Chris Fuller, and Will Parker, all of White Hall, and Andy Altstatt of Little Rock.
Ushers were Alan Vallance, Cecil Van Veckhoven, III, and Gregory Simmons. Chloe Davis and Tynleigh Pierce were the flower girls. Chase Barrett and Christian Campbell were the ring bearers.
Vocalists were Leah Campbell and David Merritt. Barbara Vanlandingham was the piano instrumentalist. Brandon Massey prayed over the couple. Jason Campbell read scripture and provided an explanation of the God’s knot.
Immediately following the ceremony, a reception was held at First Baptist Church White Hall. The tables at the reception were decorated with centerpieces of dark pink gerbera daisies in square vases filled with limes surrounded by crystals atop a piece of pink silk fabric.
Following a honeymoon in Little Rock and St. Louis, Mo., the couple resides in White Hall, Ark.
