UAPB hosts appreciation day for counselors, career coaches

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Office of Recruitment and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Academy recently held an appreciation day for high school Counselors and Career Coaches on the UAPB campus.

The day consisted of a tour of some the campus facilities such as the Childress Hall Museum and Cultural Center, Aquaculture and Fisheries Evans-Allen Research Farm and Facility, 1890 Extension Building, Football Stadium, Baseball Field and Art Gallery.

Counselors and Career Coaches also enjoyed a luncheon in the Black and Gold Room where they enjoyed a lunch of catfish with all the trimmings. During the luncheon they heard presentations from students in Aquaculture/Fisheries, STEM and Career Services.

“This day was dedicated to our hardworking counselors and career coaches at high schools where we recruit incoming students. We wanted them to know how much we truly appreciate them for all they do for UAPB,” said Lee Hardman, Director of Recruitment. “We wanted them to come to the UAPB campus and get pampered and see firsthand what we have to offer students.”

The counselors and career coaches who attended each received a bag of goodies to take back with them.

Participating schools included: KIPP Delta, Barton-Lexa, Marvell, Earle, Watson Chapel, Little Rock Central, Little Rock Hall, J.A. Fair, Helena Central High, North Little Rock, Dollarway, Sylvan Hills, Little Rock Parkview and University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville.
