UAM to host Parent-Family Appreciation Day

MONTICELLO — Parents and family members of University of Arkansas at Monticello students will be special guests of the university on Sept. 15 as UAM celebrates Parent-Family Appreciation Day.

The program will begin at 2 p.m. in the auditorium of the Fine Arts Center. The annual event includes a welcome by Chancellor Jack Lassiter, a performance by the UAM concert choir, the presentation of the family of the year award, and a performance by guitarist Tom Morello.

As part of Parent-Family Appreciation Day, the UAM bookstore will offer discounts on selected items from noon until 6 p.m. From 1 to 1:50 p.m., the UAM Wellness Committee will provide free child identification kits and fingerprinting in the FAC auditorium. Free balloon creations, body art and a photo booth will be provided by the Office of Student Programs and Activities.

A registration and reception for students and family members will begin at 1 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center. Faculty and staff will be on-hand to visit with parents and family members.

Following the welcome and program, guests will attend the Boll Weevil Walk of Champions and tailgate party cook-out at Weevil Pond, hosted by the chancellor and his wife. All guests will receive free tickets to the tailgate party and passes to the football game between UAM and Harding, which kicks off at 6 p.m. at Convoy Leslie-Cotton Boll Stadium.
