A new program was recently initiated at Trinity Retirement Center. Instead of a monthly birthday party to celebrate residents’ birthdays, the sponsoring churches have agreed to sponsor a quarterly birthday party for those celebrating their birthdays in that three-month period.
The first celebration was held in December and was sponsored by First Baptist Church of Pine Bluff. A Christmas theme was chosen and decorations were done by Billie Minten and Louise Kelly. Commissioners and friends furnished cookies and the lodge staff served a beautiful birthday cake. A citrus punch was also served.
The history of Trinity Village was presented by Elgie Goss, master of ceremonies, who also quoted an original poem. Trinity Village was formed by five sponsoring churches for a Christian retirement community open to all desiring a wholesome atmosphere for their loved ones. It is governed by a board of directors elected from the churches and commissioners who help with events and other areas of service.
The Village consists of a lodge housing a”great room”and dining hall with several sizes of apartments and studio units under one roof. A medical center is connected by a covered walkway and Garden Apartments of one or two bedrooms are arranged around the central lodge.
